Flying V gets a stupid rich distortion going. Even the bridge seems fatter and matches better with the other positions. It's like compression overdrive eq and boost all at the same time but very non pedal sounding. The straight in sound just sounds better with the unique tone this pedal gives. A lot of pedals sound good pushing an SV but I prefer straight in.

Like a Treble Booster into a clean fender amp on 1. If trying for the first time you don't get out of that shitty area quick enough you will dismiss it and walk away with a bad experience. In fact there's probably way more shit area than good. It is very easy to make the TD sound like shit. I got to say this has been an eye opener and somewhere in this box is the missing ingredient I've been wanting along with should've bought a Plexi a long time ago.

I posted this cell video a while back but this is a decent representation from my end in how it fattens up a strat into a cranked Superlead. It was the modeled version in Helix with a Superlead that kept grabbing my attention to get the real thing. One of those pedals I've seen, read about, etc but had never tried. The knobs are backed way down heading towards off. High treble channel there and a little of this Tube Driver goes a long way. Like most things up loud is where it's at though. Hard to get a meaty sound playing this low but this seems to do the trick.

It's still on the bassy side of things but it feels good digging in to get some top end. I think the bias feature is to counter that.Īt this low a volume though it takes eq settings in odd places. But, it seems a lot of that is tied to the no bias model for a smoother tone and less gain from the pedal. A lot of discussion out there about going from a 12ax7 down and see what you like. It's not a drastic change but the tone smooths out when you get in that window. I meant to throw in that the bias knob does work well for dialing in the 12ax7. Ha! I wish i was set up for recording that way.
